Jaded: made dull, apathetic, or cynical by experience or by having or seeing too much of something

This painting was a culmination of Allison’s years in college. She started by painting her first portrait ever to at the end becoming an artist who specializes in portraiture.
“I resonated with the idea of jadedness; that you can have everything yet at the same time feel as though you have nothing. I visualized this concept in a Victorian maiden transformed into a numb puppet. She’s never lifted a spoon to her lips or stepped into her shoes. Her figure is skeletal, and her skin is transparent. The insects are her decay; her jade eyes cry gemstones. She’s constricted, constrained, and delicately accepts her imprisonment. She poses for a portrait.”
